We’re thrilled to announce the next Sampler Mixtape takeover with Manchester Collective, celebrating the 2025 EXPERIMENTA artists. Across the month of February, each artist will host a one-hour show on Resonance FM, sharing extracts of their own work alongside music that has inspired them.

Following the success of our RPS takeover in 2025, this new series offers another chance to dive deep into the creative worlds of some of the UK’s most exciting new music-makers.

Tune in every Friday at 12pm (repeated Wednesdays at 3am) on Resonance FM (104.4FM / DAB / online) or listen on demand via Mixcloud.

“In EXPERIMENTA, we hope to offer space for new voices, perspectives and approaches in the world of classical music. Working with these artist was an absolute pleasure, each brought a unique approach to the project and the work they produced. We hope you enjoy this insight into each of their musical worlds.”

EXPERIMENTA

EXPERIMENTA is Manchester Collective’s programme for artists who may have encountered barriers to entering classical music. It’s a nurturing space to try out new ideas and approaches to devising work, through collaboration with the collective’s musicians and team.

EXPERIMENTA 2026 is now open for applications until Sunday 15 February 2026 at 11.59pm.

Manchester Collective invite three music creators without formal training in classical music to enter their world. The creators will work with singer/composer Héloïse Werner and percussionist Beibei Wang to experiment with new techniques in writing for other musicians, receive mentoring from Héloïse Werner and composer Jasmin Kent Rodgman and are invited to showcase their work (or work in progress) at The White Hotel (Salford) in July 2026.

Each creator will receive a bursary of £1,125 to support their participation.

Manchester Collective supports some of the UK’s most innovative creators through inventive performances, recordings and vital artist development opportunities. We’re excited to share their mixtapes with you over the next few weeks, which promise to be full of surprises, discovery and heart.”

About Manchester Collective

Known for their imaginative programming, daring collaborations and engaging performances, the work of Manchester Collective has expanded at break neck speed since their formation in 2016. The Collective’s vision is to reshape the future of classical music by creating radical artistic work from their base in the north of England.

The shape-shifting ensemble performs a combination of cutting-edge contemporary music, classical masterpieces and staged work nationally and internationally, in spaces ranging from concert halls to warehouses, nightclubs to festivals. They collaborate with an exciting array of award-winning artists, pushing at the boundaries of how classical music is presented and experienced.

New music is of vital importance to the Collective. In recent years, they have commissioned and performed new works from boundary-pushing artists including Nabihah Iqbal, Ben Nobuto, Laurence Osborn, Hannah Peel and Abel Selaocoe.
