Rachel Shapey is a music educator, composer, and entrepreneur, whose mission is to make music composition accessible to all. She received funding from the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation for disabled entrepreneurs for her innovative and award winning website, I Can Compose (www.icancompose.com). Following the success of her first book, “How to teach composition in the secondary classroom”, her second book seeks to celebrate the diversity of music composition and introduce students to lesser known composers and their work. Rachel served on the Board of Trustees at Drake Music (2019-21), a national arts charity working in music, disability and technology.
Rachel was a Round 2 recipient of the 2022/3 Francis Chagrin Awards.
