He is a founding member, guitarist, and composer of the industrial band Mauvais Sang, signed under the December Square label. His music is performed in Europe in venues such as Festival Antigel (Geneva), Musica Festival (Strasbourg), Barbican (London), Snape Maltings. Besides those projects, Mathis developed a conceptual instrument based on a guitar setup to obtain the sound of the Ondes Martenot. He collaborated with composers such as Anna Meredith, Laurence Crane, and Paul Newland on his Ondes Martenot arrangements album.

Mathis was a Round 3 recipient of the 2022/3 Francis Chagrin Awards.
