We’ve spent the past 3 months working with the artist development team at Sound of Music to curate our first cohort of composers. These 10 artists will join the Music Patron platform for its beta launch in the Spring of this year. Our first cohort of composers are:

Mark Bowden

Laura Bowler

Gareth Cutter

Elliot Galvin

Stuart Macrae

Supriya Nagarajan

Yshani Perinpanayagam

Ayanna Witter-Johnson

Marc Yeats

Music Patron is a brand new startup incubated within Sound and Music. We’re aiming to change the way composers are funded in the UK by redefining what it means to be a patron. These 10 composers will be the first to feature on the platform, interacting with patrons, sharing exclusive content and showing the difference that direct support can make to a composer. If you’d like to read more about the process behind choosing this cohort, we’ve outlined the eligibility criteria here.

What happens now?

We’re looking for 100 founding patrons to join us on our journey. As a founding patron, you’ll support one or more of the composers on Music Patron with a monthly donation of £15 or more. You’ll interact with the composer as one of their patrons, giving you a unique insight into their practice and the opportunity to see the difference your support is making. The future success of Music Patron relies on us being able to learn as much as possible during this beta-phase. So as a founding patron, we would be incredibly grateful for your periodic feedback. This will be invaluable in helping us shape Music Patron and change the way composers are funded in the UK.

To sign up to be a founding patron, fill in this short form.
