Theatr Clwyd is Wales’s leading producing theatre, and one of only four theatres in the UK that builds sets, makes costumes and creates props in-house. The venue is currently undergoing major redevelopment, with the aim of creating a more sustainable, inspiring and inclusive building, where world-class art can thrive for generations to come.

Public art is at the heart of plans for the new building. We are currently inviting applications from artists, theatre-makers, writers, and collaborative design teams for three specific projects:

  1. A creative language / storytelling commission
  2. An installation for the theatre’s new foyer space
  3. A design for a bespoke, large-scale curtain.

We welcome applications from sound artists and musicians – especially for Open Call 1 and Open Call 2.

These commissions are funded (£20-30,000 budget per project) and the intention is for these works to be prominent, long-term installations in the venue.

An informal Q&A session for interested artists and teams will be held online on Friday 3rd November at 10.30am. Interested parties can email studio@studiothreesixty.uk to join this session.

Full details of the Open Calls, including detailed briefs and information on budget, eligibility, and how to apply, can be found on the Theatr Clwyd website.
