sound is running an online starter programme for contemporary classical music performers interested in composing. The programme will be led by composers Pete Stollery and John De Simone.

The workshops will look at how to get started and how to develop ideas. The programme will be tailored to participants’ skill levels and requirements.

Schedule:

Wednesday, 25th January, 3-4.30pm – Session 1: “Getting Started” – at the end of this session you will be given a ‘homework’ task to write 1-minute piece for your own instrument.

Wednesday, 1st February, 3-4.30pm – Session 2: ‘homework’ feedback session.

Wednesday, 8th February, 3-5pm – Session 3: “Moving on”: how to develop ideas. You’ll be given another ‘homework’ task at the end of the session.

Wednesday, 15th February, 3-5pm – Session 4: homework feedback session and short wrap-up.

You need to commit to attending all 4 sessions which will take place on zoom. There is no charge to take part, but donations are welcome!

Participant profile:

  • performer of contemporary classical music
  • interest in developing composing skills

Places are limited to 10 participants on a first-come first-serve basis for those who meet the above criteria.
