Applications are open for M*****classes: Video Design – a free training programme for women and non-binary people looking to begin or continue a career in video design for theatre.

M*****classes is a training programme run by Stellar Quines Theatre Company that aims to address the lack of gender diversity in Creative Design and Production roles in Scotland. It is aimed at women and non-binary people who have some experience or interest in the field on offer – but require refreshment or up-skilling before presenting themselves as viable candidates for these roles. Previous M*****classes have explored Sound Design, Lighting Design and Production Management.

The latest set of M*****classes workshops will be delivered by industry professionals from the field of Video Design. Participants will develop an understanding of professional processes and potential career paths while building practical skills and increasing confidence.

This programme of workshops has been curated by Tim Reid, one of Scotland’s leading Video Designers. The workshops will be facilitated by Video Designers working in Scotland, London and internationally. They will cover topics such as:

• The process of Video Design from page to stage
• Using live cameras
• The Creative Toolkit
• Software skills
• Creative styles

Workshops will run on the following dates: 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th, 26th March, 2nd and 3rd April 2022.

The programme is free to attend. Stellar Quines also offers travel and access costs including childcare costs if necessary.

Applications deadline: 5pm on 13th February.

Applicants should be looking to begin or continue a career in Video Design for theatre (or other live performance) and plan to pursue their career in Scotland.
