Are you a musician or performance artist based and/or working primarily in Dewsbury / Kirklees? Would you like to take part in an online festival of local work? If so this may be the ideal opportunity for you.
Manasamitra is offering commissions to local artists, primarily musicians but also storytellers or other performance artists, to take part in the Dewsbury ‘not-the-fringe’ Festival. This project, originally planned to take place in Dewsbury Minster, is now being re-visioned as a digital offering with performances taking place every two weeks between November 2020 and March 2021. The selected artists will collaborate with Supriya Nagarajan and Duncan Chapman to produce the online event. We are giving special consideration to artists who are working with local community groups, who would be given the opportunity to participate in the performances, creating a new and localised online performance community. We are planning to make this an annual event, which may graduate to the ‘real world’ when the pandemic subsides.
