In response to the Covid-19 crisis, ORA Singers has launched a £12,000 Emergency Composers’ Fund to provide work and income for composers during the COVID-19 outbreak, as part of a cross-genre collaboration with Tate Modern.Coronavirus has had a catastrophic effect on the lives of composers, as it has for all freelance artists and musicians, clearing their diaries of work and any chance of an income for the foreseeable future. This Emergency Fund is open to any composer who is resident in the UK and the eight selected composers will each receive a £1,500 commission to write a new choral work at this difficult time. The project has been generously supported by the Arts Council England’s Emergency Relief Fund.

The fund has no formal deadline, but commissions will be announced on a rolling basis and the fund is expected to close within a few months. Composers are urged to register as early as possible.
