BarrowFull are looking for composers/musicians across the globe who would like to share some of their work as an audio recording during Barrow Music 2023 in Barrow-in-Furness, England.
These audio recordings will be played inside a red phone box which we have turned into a mini exhibition space in Barrow’s town centre during the annual Barrow Music event in the Autumn.
We are looking for international musicians; applicants should not be based in the UK. Pieces of music should be between 1 and 3 minutes long and can be made by individuals or groups of musicians. All work must be original.
It is important that the work especially fits with the theme of Barrow Calling (our phone box exhibition space project). Barrow Calling is a project which displays creative work relating to Barrow, as well as showing creativity from other places around the world to local people in our town.
We are looking for music that somehow tells people here in Barrow a story from another place, outside the UK, yet this can be interpreted how you please.

Application deadline: Friday 1 September 2023
All applicants notified: Monday 4 September 2023
Work to be completed/submitted: Thursday 21 September 2023
Work exhibited in Barrow: Thursday 28 September – Monday 9 October 2023
Work to be featured on www.barrowfull.org.uk and/or www.madeinbarrow.com in perpetuity. Creators will be credited in all instances.

To apply please send a sample of some of your existing/past audio (up to 2 minutes long), a description of what you might then create or of an existing piece you would like to propose for the phone box (up to 150 words), and some text about why you would like to share your work in Barrow.
Whilst we would prefer submissions in English, we can accept submissions in another language (please just let us know which language it is in!).
Fee:
The fee for each piece of music is £300 (transferred as GBP and subject to exchange rates and transaction fees on the day of payment upon submission of the work).
