“Composer Graham Fitkin and harpist Ruth Wall conjured a haunting sense of longing and loss, wringing contemporary resonance from traditional tunes.” THE GUARDIAN

Harpland focuses on circles of migration, a phenomenon which has been with us for millennia, but in particular the enforced emigration of crofters and farmers from the highlands of Scotland to make way for sheep.  FitkinWall comprise harpist Ruth Wall and composer/electronics Graham Fitkin.  Ruth performs on three different harps including the Scottish Clarsach, the Renaissance Bray harp and the wire-strung Gaelic harp, there is a light installation from light artist Peter Freeman and interspersed through the performance are interviews with migrants coming into Scotland from Iran, Newfoundland, Ukraine and Latvia. Here is a small excerpt from the show – I Ho Ro tiny preview
