As part of both CrossCurrents festival and the Barber Lunchtime concert series, Welsh pianist Siwan Rhys presents a programme of solo works.
Delicate, sorrowful Venetian waves lap at the edge of silence in Luigi Nono’s “… sofferte onde serene …”, capturing friendship, loss, and echoes of grand canals. In striking stylistic contrast, the bluesy, melodic music of Ethiopian composer Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbru brims with powerful rhythms and rich harmony.
Featuring the world premieres of two CrossCurrents commissions from Ben Nobuto and Laurence Crane
