David is a songwriter, composer and live music promoter who grew up in Sunderland and was brought into music through the city’s prolific Do It Yourself scene and ethos.
He has fronted the bands O’Messy Life and, most recently Feeble Strength. Playing a wide mix of punk rock and piano ballads – always with a heavy focus on lyric writing and story telling that demonstrates a love for poets like John Berryman, Walt Whitman and Dylan Thomas. His music has attracted acclaim from poet laureate Simon Armitage, Tom Ravenscroft, Tom Robinson, Steve Lamacq among others and has toured and shared stages with the likes of The Vaccines, Titus Andronicus, Jeffrey Lewis, Willy Mason and Ted Leo.
His most recent ongoing artistic project involves collaboration with fellow mackem composer Ben Lunn and learners at Autism Able CIC.
