Mind the Gap

We support composers to grow and engage new audiences and communities across the UK. To share their ideas, celebrate new ways of making and highlight the diversity of individuals working today.
Our online platforms, artist-led events, digital commissions and data-driven campaigns aim to challenge perceptions, increase access and enable more people to enjoy new music.
Every day new composers join our digital archive, becoming part of national platform that showcases music and sound.
We commission a diverse range of guest curators, contributors and collaborators, to explore the collection and the stories behind the music.
From DIY festivals, to premiers, sound installations and experimental club nights, alongside feature blogs, playlists and mixtapes from the people at the heart of the scene, we bring together the extraordinary events and activity happening across the UK.
Our purpose is simple, to support those producing events, and to help them share their work with new audiences.
With Music Patron, you can give composers the freedom to create new music, connect with them, and truly support their art. Our goal is to connect thousands of patrons with the most exciting composers.
We want Music Patron to channel unrestricted and significant funding to hundreds of music writers across the UK.

Alongside the British Music Collection digital archive, many physical items can be found at our partner site in Heritage Quay, at the University of Huddersfield.
This collection contains over 60,000 scores, recordings and artifacts from 20th/21st century British music – including our founder organisations the British Music Information Centre, SPNM and Sonic Arts Network.
Since 2008, we have supported some of the most exciting, visionary, and experimental composers in the UK; working across genres to discover their potential and push the boundaries of modern composition.
From electronica, jazz, folk, improvisation, traditional musics and much more these individuals make music and sound that shapes the modern world.
