Welcome to New Voices 2016
A digital showcase of the best new music in the UK today!

Every year, Sound and Music shine a light on the work of the composers who are currently in residence on our Embedded and Portfolio programmes. These are our New Voices

Coming from a diverse range of musical styles -across the UK – they are pioneering some of the most exciting innovations in music and performance today - from algoraves to noh japanese theatre inspired pieces!

New Voices are selected through a highly competitive open process to create new work with and for their residency partners, who can be as stylistically diverse as the British Library, Kuljit Bhamra, Music Hackspace, Open Data Institute and the Birmingham Contempory Music Group (to name a but a few!)

We will be profiling one New Voice a week, sharing their work, blogs, interviews and more but for now, browse the list below and get to know them a little better!

This annual showcase of creative talent allows us to highlight the 25 of the most exciting contemporary composers and music creators from across two of our most prestigious programmes. Individually these composer are unique in their artistic output and approach and as a cohort they give us a small snapshot of the breath, innovation, talent and diversity of composers from across the UK. 

We invite you to celebrate these New Voices in new music and get ready to hear a lot more from them in the future’
