Sound and Music’s In Motion programme brings together a diverse group of composers, each with a unique voice and vision. This Q&A series offers a glimpse into their creative worlds, revealing their musical influences, current projects, and aspirations for the future.
Here, we speak to In Motion 2024 composer Raivo Sloan.
Can you tell us about your musical influences?
I have been largely influenced by obsessive late-night internet music discoveries, club culture, and by the sense of ‘togetherness’ experienced in churches that I grew up in through playing in worship bands.
What are you working on at the moment?
I am currently in the process of releasing my first EP.
What are you looking forward to most about In Motion?
I am most looking forward to being surrounded by other artists and the Sound and Music cohort, and I’m excited to have dedicated space and time to focus on my practice outside of work and life commitments.
