We’re delighted that English Touring Opera have joined us as partners in signing up to our Fair Access Principles in September 2021.

Developed through consultation with a broad range of composers and organisations, Sound and Music’s Fair Access Principles are designed to act as a code of best practice for running successful, open and inclusive artist development programmes, competitions and awards for composers.

In signing up, English Touring Opera are committing to enact the Fair Access Principles across their work over the next two years. We recognise that organisations will need time to think about and implement changes within their programmes.

You can read their reasons for signing up and future commitments the organisation have made below.

English Touring Opera’s Statement

“At English Touring Opera we champion diversity and inclusion throughout the organisation, and we are working hard to increase both within our audiences, programming, communications and workforce. We support the Fair Access Principles because they underpin our commitment to working with a broader and more diverse range of artists throughout our programmes.

We are proud to work with Sound and Music and other partners to keep removing barriers and ensuring that both opera and the making of opera are accessible and welcoming to all.
