Shapeshifters explores the intersection of plant life, fiction, and human emotion through macro photography and experimental electronic sound.

London-based artist Siteng has ventured through parks, marshes, beaches, mountains, forests, immersing herself in the textures of the UK’s natural landscapes. Through her macro lens, tiny lifeforms – lichens, kelps, grass, grapes, wild flowers – are magnified into vivid, otherworldly beings. Her grotesquely beautiful imagery echoes organic horror, creating portals into her fantastical sonic storytelling.

Layering vocals with expressive synths, Siteng sculpts soundscapes that are both delicate and unsettling, translating fleeting natural moments into prolonged audiovisual experiences.

This exhibition features:

  • Intimate, deep listening of unreleased music from EP Shapeshifters
  • Macro photography drop-in session (no camera needed, phones welcome)
  • Sound design insights blending electronic textures with Eastern heritage

This work was made possible by Sound and Music‘s In Motion programme. In Motion 2024 is supported by Arts Council England, Jerwood Foundation, Garrick Club Charitable Trust, PRS Foundation, Michael Guest & Marchus Trust.
