Yasmin Rai is an interdisciplinary artist and musician. She is currently completing her debut avant-pop album, incorporating experimental sound design with classical and electronic influences. Her interdisciplinary work includes sonifying NASA data, developing an audio essay from records spanning pre- to post-colonial India, and building an installation using spectral analysis and field recordings from the Amazon rainforest.
Yasmin has performed and composed for the Serpentine Gallery’s Queer Earth and Liquid Matters Festival (part of the Back to Earth programme), Primary Gallery, Horse Hospital, and the ICA, where she was selected for the ICA Young Creatives programme as a sound artist. Her work includes collaborative soundscape design and performance with TS Eliot Prize-winning poet Bhanu Kapil.
