Maddie Morris, winner of the BBC Radio 2 young folk award 2019 and Lilian Grace Recipient of the 2017 Bernard Davey award are a folk duo from Leeds. Their current project “The Sticky Monsters” Is influenced by the artwork of Swedish artist John Kenn, they hope to create an album using these artworks to compose music surrounding childhood, abuse, and poverty. Maddie and Lilian graduated from BA Folk Music at Leeds Conservatoire in 2020, their music has been described as “Thought-provoking, challenging and incredibly haunting.
In June 2021 Maddie and Lilian received one of Sound and Music’s COVID-19 Composer Awards:
“Lilian and I are absolutely overwhelmed to have been selected for this grant money, and cannot explain the extent of our gratitude. This funding will allow us to record and release compositions we have been working on for some time about issues so deeply important to us.
