Fintan is a composer from Cornwall. He studied composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. His pieces have been performed by the Danish Radio Choir, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart and others, and he has also created pieces using junk objects and the hums, clicks and whirs of electric motors.

He recently had a piece performed at UNM festival in Finland, was a finalist in the Prix Annelie de Man black pencil competition and won the NCEM young composers competition.

He currently lives in London.

In January 2021 Fintan received one of Sound and Music’s COVID-19 Composer Awards:

This grant will make it possible for me to finish a project I’m working on, and provide the means to film and record this and future pieces – so I’m really grateful to Sound and Music for creating this opportunity and supporting composers through the pandemic.”

Fintan’s piece ‘motors’, which was funded by his COVID-19 Composer Award can be seen below.

In March 2021 Fintan was selected for the ISCM British Section’s shortlist of composers submitted to the ISCM World New Music Days Festival in Shanghai and Nanning. Find out more here.
