Fahmi Mursyid is a contemporary musician, composer, sound designer and producer based in Bandung, Indonesia. In his music practice, he began releasing recordings under various monikers and labels since 2011. Fahmi uses acoustic instruments, electronic (software & hardware), found objects, and computer to create glitch sound, sampling, granular synthesis, shimmering, swirling electronic sound of enormous range and complex-simple musicality.
He is also interested in using environmental sounds to express his musical ideas. Imagine the acoustic instrument severed from cliché and all of its physical limitations, shaping a bold new-alternative musical language. His albums that have been released are Tanah Merah (Maryland, 2018); Sejarah (Czech, 2018); Alam (Italy, 2019); Akur (Indonesia, 2019); Krakatoa (California, 2019); One Instrument Sessions 03 (Germany, 2019); Suasana Lain (UK, 2025); Dualism (Japan, 2025) and Dunia Maya (Germany, 2025).
His album, ‘Tanah Merah’ featured on The Wire magazine (2018). Residency to create radio show ‘Nusantara Sounds’ at Hong Kong Community Radio (2020). Collaboration with We’re All Bats (The Listening Arts Channel based in UK) for ‘Listening to Plants’ (2020). His music composition combine experimental sounds and spoken words, ‘Lumen’ featured on ‘Homunkuli w/ Lena Willikens – Indonesia Special’ on NTS Radio (2025)
