Join us for a night of improvised music and film presented by the Lo-fi Ensemble who are a long running music group who meet once a month on our hall and explore music and sound in a group context. to celebrate another year in the hall they will be hosting three highly acclaimed guest musicians from around the world as well as showing off their unique sound.

Beibei Wang (Chinese Percussion) Petros Tzekos (Percussion) Hua Wang (Erhu)
Petros Tzekos is a Greek percussionist, sound maker and improviser currently living in Berlin. He is redefining percussion as a source, treating them with extended techniques with his focus in sound art, improvisation, experimental, contemporary free music & jazz. He studied modern and classical percussion in Athens and his curiosity brought him on a search for new ways of playing music, bringing him on trips to Japan and Morocco in pursuit of learning contemporary, ritual music and drumming. He is currently working as a composer on his first album “Apathetic”, a combination of minimalism and ritual.
Beibei Wang is a uniquely vibrant percussion talent. With a background in both Classical and traditional Chinese percussion, she brings characteristic flair and dynamism to her performances, presenting repertoire as diverse as contemporary classical to free improvisation with equal elegance.
Beibei has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as BBC Symphony Orchestra, China Philharmonic, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra dell’ Academia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, and lead the BBC Concert Orchestra on their 2018 China tour. She has appeared as soloist on some of the world’s most prestigious stages including the Barbican Centre, Elbphilharmonie, Grafenegg Festival, and Southbank Centre.
Hua Wang is a dynamic multi-instrumentalist based in Hefei, China, specializing in the Erhu (Chinese fiddle) and saxophone. He has been touring 101 cities and doing live streaming performances worldwide since 2020. His unique style has gained him millions of followers online for his live streaming performances. He was invited by artistic director Stuart Wilding to perform with his daughter Beibei Wang at the Cheltenham Xposed Club. Last year, he performed as a guest musician with the Manchester Collective at the Southbank Centre
