About University of Salford Art Collection and Hybrid Futures

The University of Salford Art Collection exists for the benefit of students, staff and public. Works are displayed across campus, with key partner venues, and made available for UK and international loan. The Collection, founded around 1968, is the catalyst for all that they do, and contains over 900 modern and contemporary artworks, The collections is grown through an ambitious ‘commission to collect’ model, most often working in partnership with external organisations. Internally, it also works with academics, students, graduates and staff across disciplines. They collect in three areas: About the Digital, From the North, and Chinese Contemporary Art; with their three priorities being artist development, diversity and sustainability.

As one of the final aspects of the Hybrid Futures project, the Collection presents the Hybrid Futures group exhibition at Salford Museum and Art Gallery. The exhibition features new works and commissions by artists Shezad Dawood, Jessica El Mal, Parham Ghalamdar and RA Walden that address the urgent thematic focus of climate change.
