Nina is a composer and saxophonist currently studying at a sixth form college in the North West of England and is a member of the Junior RNCM department. She holds the title Sandbach Concert Series Young Musician of the Year for 2022 and was recently featured on UK Selector Radio where hosts spoke about upcoming women in the music scene, writing her first commissioned work as a composer at the age of 16.

Nina’s major compositional influences include the impressionist composer Debussy, film composer Lorne Balfe (in particular his score to ‘His Dark Materials’), and Finnish pianist Iiro Rantalla. Nina’s favorite compositional experiences have been where she has been able to work with musicians as part of the process – for example, when her string quartet ‘Up and Away’ was workshopped and recorded by string players from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Nina has recently enjoyed creating a YouTube channel to share her compositions – and as a passionate performer, has ambitions to study joint principle saxophone and composition at a conservatoire in the coming year.
