Hello! My name is Billie R. and I’m from the South East of England. My compositional influences are very wide-ranging and include jazz, Spectralism, Impressionism, experimental synthesiser/electronic music, Baroque polyphony, abstract art, and conceptual art. One of my favourite pieces I’ve written was written at the SAM Summer School in 2021, and was titled “11:35am” – this was a timed piece that began with a collection of mobile phones, which all had an alarm set for 11:35 in the morning. As well as composing, I love playing the piano and the cello, and I spend a lot of time teaching piano and playing in ensembles. I’m in the last year of sixth form, where I’m studying music with music tech, and I’m also studying composition with jazz piano at the Royal College of Music Junior Department.
