The Cue Tube, a free community for film composers and filmmakers that was launched in summer 2020, have launched a free film scoring contest in partnership with Northern Film Orchestra, with terrific prizes, including the chance to have your score performed by the orchestra, and boasting a top-quality judging panel, headed by Guy Michelmore of ThinkSpace Education.  The competition is being run as a vehicle to raise awareness of The Cue Tube’s Score Relief charity fundraiser, which is raising funds to support backstage technical workers from film, TV and live events, who have suffered from loss of earnings due to the closures and cancellations arising from the pandemic.  Many of these workers are ineligible for government support packages and the future remains very uncertain for large numbers.  Score Relief is working with Registered Charity Backup to provide financial relief to these workers, and their families, with priority given to cases where the government has not helped.
