Experience the myriad, and unexpected, sounds of a wild walk along the coast path from Deal to Dover as captured by Folkestone-based sound artist Anna Braithwaite. Pilgrimage is an immersive 360° sound installation which uses field recordings and improvised vocal music, recorded en route in St Margaret of Antioch church, to capture the experience of the modern pilgrim.
The installation will be open to the public (for free) from 5pm – 7pm Friday 11th July and 10am – 4pm on both Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July 2025.
The 18-minute piece will be played on a continuous loop and listeners can choose how long to stay.
Join Anna for a ‘meet the artist’ session from 4pm-5pm on Saturday 12th July, ‘pay what you can’ tickets available HERE.
At 4pm on Sunday 13th July Anna and Gavin Roberts from Screen South and I will run a practical introductory workshop in using ‘envelop’ software in Ableton Live to create 360° sound worlds, find out more HERE.
This project has been developed with support from Screen South’s Arts Council England NPO Artist Showcase Programme.
