Daylight Music: Freda D'Souza, The Silver Field + Amulet

The new term finds us in an introspective mood, as we greet and welcome a new generation of music makers from far and wide. Expect a collage of analogue sounds, slow songs, digital sensations and delicate tender moments.

Freda D’Souza is an interdisciplinary artist whose tender songs find infinite detail in intricate repetition. Their new live project sees these songs expanded through drone, free improv and field recordings in a widening of space and layering of time. These live explorations draw the audience into a sonic meditation on what it means to be committed to loving.

2024 Oram Award-winner The Silver Field is a sound world of Derbyshire-based Rose Kindred-Boothby: voice, tapes, bass, samples, synthesis, strings, reeds, drums, small sounds, big sounds, sunlight, moonlight, a lot of water.

Using her modular synthesiser and other self-built electronic instruments, she weaves together song-soundscapes, creating a rich and dream-like tapestry of sound that draws from folk music tradition, experimental electronics and psychedelia.

Amulet (Joseph Flower and Isaac Tendler) are a Glasgow-based, instrumental duo making repetition-based experimental folk to keep you safe. They create moving soundscapes from looped guitar, synthesiser, field recordings and samples from multiple folk cultures.

Listen in with us this late September to new music once again reverberating and resonating through the space. As the leaves fall and the temperature drops, the kettle is on. It will be so good to be back with you again for another edition of music, tea & cake.
