Today composer Ed Bennett presents a new incarnation of his renowned Decibel ensemble to premiere a new commission ‘All Earth Once Drowned’ with texts by Northern Ireland poet Cherry Smyth.

Through a combination of music and spoken word, this work will address some of the most pertinent environmental issues of our time in a collective call for action. Bennett will utilise Irish and UK musicians of international standing in a 10-piece ensemble to create a deeply personal music in response to Smyth’s texts and the wider environmental problems we face as a planet.

Cherry Smyth will perform with the ensemble interweaving her texts throughout this expansive composition ranging from music of huge energy and rage to quiet and delicate introspection.
