John Pfumojena (John Falsetto) is an award winning Zimbabwean composer, musical director, vocalist, and theatre-maker whose work bridges traditional Southern African music with contemporary performance. A virtuoso of the mbira and marimba, he is the innovator of the 26-key Pfumojena Extended Karimba Mbira.
His compositions have enriched acclaimed productions such as The Jungle (Good Chance Theatre), Enough of Him (National Theatre of Scotland), and Musical Direction/Vocal Arrangements for Black Boys (Royal Court & West End). As Artistic Director of MEET MY ANCESTORS, John leads intercultural collaborations that honour ancestral knowledge while challenging colonial narratives.
