Composition Challenges invites young people, teachers and schools to create new music for the London Sinfonietta inspired by the works and musical ideas of living composers.

Each challenge explores the work and approach of a different contemporary composer, supporting curriculum learning and helping young people engage with creative composition. Composition Challenges are designed to be easy to use, flexible and open to all, from complete beginners to those with more experience.

A short film, supported by a teacher pack will guide you through each challenge with a variety of activities to get your class composing. We can also supplement your in-school work with specially tailored workshops (in person or online) with London Sinfonietta musicians and composers to offer feedback to your students and help them develop their work. We then invite schools to submit their compositions for us to share and perform.
