Steph Horak and Hadi Bastani: Pendulum

c.20’00” voices, objects, electronics

UK-based artists Horak and Bastani (Iran) use their poetry as a focal point to discuss experiences of mediating the cultures of their upbringing and their elected homes as adults. Through this multi-media improvisation, they explore notions of agency and (dis)connectivity by playing with different fields of interaction: a pendulum modelled through software; and sonic feedback created by their physical interactions with amplifiers and contact microphones.

Narcissa Kasraï, Anna Weisling and Hadi Bastani: intra.view c.30’00” live electronics, live coding and visuals

intra.view is a performative piece that finds its shape while being enacted as part of Sonorities 2018, by composer Narcissa Kasrai (Iran), sound artist and researcher Hadi Bastani (UK), and visual artist Anna Weisling (USA). The generic structure of the piece has been discussed and negotiated via a series of correspondences between the three artists who had never met until a few days prior to the performance.
