Today Sound and Music is happy to announce two new senior appointments to its team. Judith Robinson becomes Head of Education (a brand new position reflecting Sound and Music’s ambitions for its educational work). And Hannah Bujic becomes Head of Artist Development (job share), replacing the previous Director of Programmes role. Hannah Bujic will be taking up her position from 1 September 2018.

These two new roles will join Sound and Music’s Head of Digital, Marketing and Communications, Victoria Johnson who has been with the organisation since 2015) in a new structure that allows even more focus on, and leadership of, the organisation’s three core areas of work: artist development, audience development and education.

Together they will enable Sound and Music to greatly increase its impact in supporting and championing a diverse range of composers and artists, enabling many more people to engage with new music, and nurturing the musical creativity and compositional skills of children and young people.

Both of the successful candidates are longstanding and widely respected members of the Sound and Music team, having served in their previous roles as Creative Project Leaders for over 16 years between them. In that time they have demonstrated their unwavering passion and commitment to new music, supported hundreds of composers and helped the organisation to grow and increase its influence and reputation across the music world. Both of them also bring a wealth of prior experience.

These exciting appointments mark a significant shift in the organisation’s delivery in its tenth year.

Chief Executive, Susanna Eastburn MBE said:

“These new roles will ensure that Sound and Music can become even more influential in its vital work to support artists, grow audiences and ensure that the creativity of children is placed centre stage. The three things are of course closely connected and right now feel more important than ever. Hannah and Judith have been amazing colleagues to bring the organisation to this point and now I am thrilled to welcome them into Sound and Music’s leadership team as we embark on the next 10 years of Sound and Music.”

Sound and Music’s new Head of Education, Judith Robinson, said:

“I am really delighted to be taking on the new role of Head of Education at Sound and Music. Having been involved in the organisation from its outset and leading the education work for the last five years, I have insight and personal investment in this exciting, challenging and important area of work. I am looking forward to working with at Sound and Music and our partners to ensure the strategic development of the education programme in the future, so that we can further our aim that every young person can have the opportunities and support for composing and creating their own music.”

Sound and Music’s new Head of Artist Development, Hannah Bujic, said:

“I am thrilled to be taking up the role of Head of Artist Development. It will be 6 years to the day since I joined Sound and Music and I know first-hand from my time working with composers what crucial impact the organisation can have in supporting talented artists and promoting their work. I’m very excited about the opportunities we have to develop this further with the composers and partners we currently work with, and with those we have yet to meet.”
