SaM Summer School 2017

Don't take our word for it....take theirs!

“I also just wanted to say what an incredible experience I found the summer school to be both in 2014 and 2015 - I learnt equally enormous amounts both years across a huge range of music related subjects and thoroughly enjoyed every second! I’ll definitely be recommending it to all my composer friends - so thank you so much and congratulations for organising such an amazing course which will stay with me and I’m sure countless others for many years ahead!”  Student 2014 + 2015

Thank you for the best week of my life.  It has opened my eyes to my own ability that I just didn't know I had which has inspired me to strive for the best with further education.” -- Katy, student

Firstly I felt that I was respected as being a musician who was slightly different than the others. Normally I feel like I'm 'bad' because I don't write pastiche and I don't play an orchestral instrument. I felt the complete opposite of this on the Summer School. Secondly it was fantastic to have my piece performed as my pieces are never performed in a concert. Lastly it was amazing to be surrounded by like-minded people who all had different interests but were all the same in that they were interested in music to some degree.” -- Ellie, Student

I would like to thank you and all your team for hosting what was most obviously a fabulous week for all those involved. Please pass on my thanks to all those involved in providing such a wonderful opportunity for young composers to spend time together, working hard on something they have a passion for, under the leadership of inspiring tutors.” -- Caroline, parent

“The summer school opened my eyes to how diverse composition really is and what it has to offer. Working so closely with professional musicians was very exciting, as it allowed me to thoroughly explore the full capabilities of the instruments at first hand. I learnt so much from the feedback I received throughout the week, and it was topped off by an amazing performance of my composition at the end. Overall, it was a brilliant experience!” Student, 2015
