Sound and Music is a producer partner in PRS Foundation's pioneering professional development project, New Music Plus…

The London pilot provides a unique opportunity for 8 talented new music producers to create work with 8 prominent venues and cultural organisations in London.

Having identified a need within the music sector for work-based training and reflection for independent producers, PRSF responded with New Music Plus. Developed in association with the hub, it aims to strengthen learning amongst organisations and independent producers that want to develop their approach to programming new music.

Sound and Music's New Music Plus...Producer - Ben Osbourne

Ben Osborne is the founder of Noise of Art, an organisation set up to celebrate the convergence of music and visual art in the digital age.

He has commissioned and been creatively involved in cross platform art projects involving many leading international electronic musicians, artists, galleries and venues; including Laurent Garnier, The Tate, Booka Shade, BFI, Coldcut, The Roundhouse,  I:cube, Big Chill Festival, Fred Deakin (Lemon Jelly), Latitude, Sebastian and Kavinsky, QEH, Southbank,  The National Theatre and more.  As well as putting on live events, he is a radio presenter, club DJ, musician and works widely within music and visual art as a performer and writer.

His work in music has ranged from DJing, playing live and writing and producing music, to programming for major venues and festivals (including events at the top of BT Tower supporting the Olympic bid). He performs and tours internationally as a DJ alongside club residencies in London.

A widely published writer, he has worked in different parts of the media; including presenting his own specialist shows on NME Radio and Xfm. His work has appeared in The Guardian, The Times, Independent On Sunday, DJ Magazine, i-D Magazine and Music Week and many others. He has written a book on electronic music, The A-Z of Club Culture (published by Hodder Headline) and holds the Guinness world record for organising the most DJs to play in one set.

“When it comes to mega multimedia events... DJ Ben Osborne and his collective, Noise of Art, are all over it.” Time Out, July 2008
